We are very pleased to inform you that the CDI Meet-up in Rijeka was a hugely successful event! This was the first CDI Meet-up outside of Zagreb, and it brought together experts from Rijeka, but also from all parts of Croatia, marking the beginning of our tour of Croatia dedicated to digital construction and innovations in the industry.
In the crowded RiHub space, in the very heart of Rijeka, participants had the opportunity to listen to interesting lectures, participate in discussions and get acquainted with the latest technologies and tools that are shaping the future of construction. From BIM processes in building construction to digital twins of subsea infrastructure, this meet-up was a real gathering of experts who are shaping the digital transformation in construction.

From Rijeka to Zagreb
In the first part of the event, participants had the opportunity to listen to Ivana Šajn, designer and manager at Studio 3LHD, who spoke about the digital evolution of the Žabica project. Ivana shared how the bus station project was the first project to implement advanced tools such as Archicad and VOLUM3, and how these tools improved collaboration and business efficiency.
After that, Mateo Viškanić from Vectrin introduced the fascinating world of digital twins of underwater infrastructure, explaining how data is collected and georeferenced 3D models are created to track changes in underwater objects over time. Mateo highlighted the key importance of this technology for the inspection, maintenance and management of coastal infrastructure.

One of the great speakers was Marin Račić, Director of 3D Art, who spoke about the application of the BIM process in the reconstruction of the Croatian National Bank building in Zagreb. The Croatian National Bank building project marks the first application of the ISO 19650 standard in Croatia, and Marin explained how the digital tools were aligned with the CDE platform and what the adaptation for the historic building involved.
Finally, Antonija Plavotić from ZDL Architects concluded the lectures with the topic of BIM technology in the CHC – Rebro Zagreb project. Antonija explained how digital coordination on this project improved planning and design and how BIM can play a key role in optimizing large projects.

Networking and sharing experiences
In addition to the lectures, the CDI Meet-up in Rijeka also provided a valuable opportunity for networking. During the Q&A session and the Beer adn Technology session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers and exchange ideas with their colleagues in the field. This interactive part of the event was crucial for strengthening the community and encouraging collaboration among experts.
A big thank you to our speakers Ivana Šajn, Antonija Plavotić, Marin Račić and Mate Viškanić, who enriched this event with their knowledge and experience. We would also like to thank our partners who recognized the value of the CDI initiative and supported us in organizing this event.
