COMMUNITER AD DECUS d.o.o. (CAD) has been at the forefront of digital transformation in Croatia’s construction sector for years. As an authorized Autodesk Partner and Autodesk Training Center, CAD helps companies of all sizes step into the digital future – not only through the sale of software solutions but also through consulting, implementation, and training services.
We spoke with Mr. Ljubomir Sakač, Director of CAD, who shared how digitalization is shaping the way we design and build today, which technologies are key to the modern construction sector, and how cooperation with the Center for Digital Built Croatia (CDI) contributes to the company’s business.

- How would you briefly describe your company and its contribution to the construction sector?
COMMUNITER AD DECUS d.o.o. (CAD) is an authorized Autodesk partner, and for many years we have been helping companies from various industries step into the digital future. In addition to software sales, we support our clients through consulting, implementation, and training as an authorized Autodesk Training Center.
We believe that digitalization is the foundation of a more efficient and higher-quality construction industry, and our goal is to demonstrate how modern tools from the leading design software provider can simplify processes, speed up planning, and increase execution precision. Most importantly, this approach enables us to build projects together that are not only faster and more cost-effective but also sustainable in the long term.

- What motivated you to become a CDI partner?
I am convinced that through our partnership with CDI and by actively participating in a community that promotes digital transformation, we can ensure knowledge sharing, access to innovative projects, and collaboration with leading experts in the industry.
- How do you assess the state of digitalization in Croatia’s construction sector?
The digitalization of the construction sector in Croatia is certainly progressing. In some companies, it is already at a very high level. Many companies recognize the advantages of implementing cutting-edge solutions, especially cloud platforms, but continuous training and adaptation of their own processes are necessary. By using these solutions, better coordination, time and cost savings, and more efficient management of an asset’s life cycle are achieved — ensuring higher quality projects and greater competitiveness in both the domestic and international markets.

- Which projects are you particularly proud of that include digital tools or innovations?
We are proud of all the companies we have helped and are still helping to implement the latest solutions that have contributed to better management, cost reduction, and overall savings. I would single out Klimaoprema d.o.o., which was among the first in Croatia to recognize Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) as a cloud solution for achieving better coordination, faster project execution, and more efficient management of the entire life cycle of facilities. The savings they are achieving now and all the other advantages that ACC provides (especially visible during the restrictions of the COVID period) confirm that the management made the right decision at the right time.
- Which technologies or approaches (e.g. BIM, IoT, AI, construction management platforms) are essential to you in your everyday work?
In our portfolio we offer various solutions covering a wide range of applications, and I would mention as key: Revit – Autodesk’s solution for design using BIM methodology; Navisworks Manage – a solution for coordination and 3D model review that enables clash detection, construction simulation and integration of various project data into a single overview; ACC (Autodesk Construction Cloud) – a cloud solution for project management that connects teams, data and processes in construction projects for better collaboration, document management and performance tracking; and Autodesk Forma – a solution for conceptual project planning in the initial phase that allows terrain, environmental and sustainability analyses before detailed modeling in Revit.

- How does collaboration through CDI contribute to your business?
Collaboration with CDI primarily provides us with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with colleagues from different industries. DigiDeck, the event organized by the Center once a year, is an excellent opportunity to step away from our daily obligations, at least for a day, and through networking, presentations, and workshops get acquainted with new trends and technologies.
- How do you see the future of digital construction in Croatia and the region?
The future lies in continuous investment and training in the application of the latest digital technologies. The widespread implementation of BIM solutions will enable companies to reduce errors and timelines, while improved coordination and collaboration — with greater precision and compliance with standards — will allow management to make faster and more effective decisions. In this way, competitiveness will increase not only in Croatia but also throughout the region.

- What would be your message to other members of the community and those who are only just considering digital transition?
Digital transition is not an option but a necessity. Our experience shows: start gradually – first with education, then with implementation. Don’t hesitate to use proven solutions that optimize existing processes and seamlessly introduce you to the use of new ones. It may not be easy at the beginning, but the long-term benefits are significant. Our experience in implementation and consulting through “best practice” can make your transition much easier.

COMMUNITER AD DECUS d.o.o. clearly demonstrates that digital transformation is not just a trend, but a key path toward a more efficient, precise, and sustainable construction sector. Through innovative tools, education, and strategic partnerships such as the one with CDI, companies gain not only technology but also the knowledge that enables faster decision-making, better coordination, and long-term savings.
Now is the time for every project, every company, and every professional to recognize the power of digital solutions. The future of construction is already being built – and it is digital!
